Patients may request a chaperone. A chaperone can be requested before the appointment or at any point during the visit.
For home visits, patients may also choose to have a friend, partner, relative or another trusted adult present. This is separate from any formal chaperone arrangement.
Where a formal chaperone is requested, Wax Man Dan will make reasonable arrangements where practicable. If an appropriate chaperone cannot be arranged, the appointment may need to be rearranged.
The chaperone's role is to support patient dignity, comfort and safety and to provide an additional safeguard for both the patient and practitioner. The chaperone should remain professional and respect patient confidentiality.
Patients can ask for the appointment to stop or pause at any time. Treatment will only proceed with the patient's agreement and where it is considered appropriate and safe.
